The finding of ILD in a patient with a demographic profile that is not typical should prompt an exhaustive investigation for another diagnosis such as hypersensitivity pneumonitis or connective tissue disease. WebIdiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is the most frequent and severe IIP, characterized by a progressive dyspnea along with respiratory failure and a poor prognosis [ 4 ]. It is well known that the etiology of ILD is complex, and besides internal and external risk factors, a genetic component contributes to the development and severity of ILD [ 5 ].
