If you buy the 3 x 3 tubing and buy some 3/8 thick steel plates-- oh, about 12 inches long and 2 1/2 inches wide, you can put it inside the tubing and drill, tap, and 1/2 inch bolt it. Two bolts on each side of the gap on both sides of the tube. The worst part is that as you turn a corner, the trailer tracks further to the inside than your vehicle.
