WebThe optical inertial reference unit (OIRU) can provide a reference beam for the line-of-sight stabilization system to achieve precise pointing and tracking. Inertial sensors are mounted to the OIRU platform to provide feedback of angular motions being experienced by the reference beam. The inertial reference unit includes a plurality of sensors 41, 42, 43, and 44 which measure the inertial angular rate of the platform 40. Platform 40, in turn, supports the optical collimator of a laser system having a reference laser source 50.
